Climate

The beginning of the year is mild, leading to an early budbreak. But vine growth is then slowed down in the spring, due to cold and wet weather. It leads to heterogeneous flowering and growth on some parcels. Dry and very hot weather sets in from June. Despite the high temperatures, the water stored in the soil in spring allowed the vines to keep growing in good conditions. The onset of ripening is finally homogeneous and fast before an optimum maturation. Our our newest terroir, the young vines produce fresh-fruit style merlots.

Winemaking

Harvested at the end of September 2019, grapes were macerated at cold settings before fermentation. Concrete tank vinification combined with a gentle phenolic extraction and low temperatures (22-24°C) provided a great protection of fruity aromas. All along its evolution (alcoholic and malolactic fermentations, tank aging), the wine is kept sulfur free. SO2 is used only before bottling.

Tasting Notes

This wine is of lively color that comes with a very fruity nose. Fresh cherries, strawberries with cream, a hint of violet contributed by Malbec. On the palate, the tannins are silky and well balanced. This voluptuous wine can be enjoyed both as an aperitif and with a good meal.
